Couple’s & Family Therapy

When I treat a couple for marriage or pre-marriage therapy I treat the couple as a unit.  I do not take sides, one person against the other.  I do not keep secrets, or engage in communications outside of the therapy room.  Generally speaking, I will not provide individual therapy for one of the members of the couple, unless the couple’s therapy has terminated with me.

I am trained in “Relationship Enhancement” which is based on the principles of ‘filial’ therapy.  I help couple’s improve their communication and lead healthier and more rewarding lives.  I work closely with local groups, such as the “Sacramento Healthy Marriage Project” on improving relationships of all kinds.  I work with the GLBT community.

Sometimes, the entire family is involved in treatment.  I use a systems based approach, which assumes that if one member of a family becomes healthy the entire family is improved.
